Mirfield Show Cancellation Statement 2021

Posted by Joseph Kelly on March 23, 2021

Dear All,

Although we are beginning to see the light at the end of the tunnel, we continue to find ourselves in difficult times as we fight the battle of this terrible pandemic.

Following a meeting of the Steering Committee virtually last night, the decision was made to cancel Mirfield Agricultural Show for 2021.

There are far too many uncertainties out there at the moment and for the wellbeing of all our Committee, our Volunteers, our Sponsors, those who we invite to take part in the Show and for the wider Community of Mirfield then this was definitely the right decision to make. It would be irresponsible of us to try to continue with the Show this year putting people at risk.

Moving forward we will now take Mirfield Show virtual again for 2021 and there are already lots of plans in place for a wonderful array of fun and exciting Competitions. Our new activity packs are proving to be extremely popular and these will continue throughout the months.

A few of the ideas so far: Our very popular Scarecrow Competition will return to the streets of Mirfield. Competitions themed on kindness, togetherness and friendship. A schedule of Competitions to run a full 12 months meaning other exciting competition themes could be included like Halloween and Christmas.

For now, I would like to thank you all for your continued support for the Show and look forward to welcoming everybody back onto the Showground in 2022.

If you are a local Organisation, Charity or Business and have already booked to come to the Show, please bear with us and we will be in touch as soon as we can.

Please stay safe.
Take care and kind regards

Jonathan Evans
Chairman on behalf of Mirfield Agricultural Show Committee & Family.
